Bryce Canyon 200 km brevet

Saturday July 31, 2010

This event is based on a well tested route. Many cyclists ride this route during the year on organized events as well as in touring groups. This is the heart of Color Country which has become a cycling destination for riders literally from around the globe. The stunning Utah landscapes found on this route will leave an indelible impression on each participant. The ride begins in historic Panguitch before climbing up through scenic Red Canyon on a National Forest bike path. After a gentle climb up to the Paunsaugunt Plateau riders are treated to views of Powell Point and Grand Staircase National Monument. We will briefly enter Bryce Canyon National Park on our way to the first checkpoint in Tropic Utah just below Bryce. After Tropic we have a climb back up to John’s Valley where we turn north to follow the East Fork of the Sevier River. Suddenly the bottom drops out as you head down Black Canyon past historic sights and towns such as Osiris, Antimony and Kingston. Next stop is Junction Utah at the foot of the 12,000+ ft Tushar Mountains before you turn and head back towards Panguitch. Mild summertime temperatures and spectacular wildflowers are normal for this time of year, you will not be dissapointed!!!

Hey Lonnie, I was wondering what the chances were I could hitch a ride with someone in or near the Utah valley area to go down there for the Bryce 200k? I can schedule a trip to visit my Sister around this and that’s where she lives.

    Thanks,
    Paul

      Paul,

There are a couple of guys in Central Utah that come down but they are a little south of the Provo area. I dont know if they could help or not. I’ll just post the info here and if anyone can help maybe they can reply to you. I’ll let you know if I hear of anything.

      Lonnie
